Two years on from the launch of the Pacific Digital Library, we have nearly 400 animations, in 12 Pacific languages and English, accessed by users from 36 countries around the globe.

The 2024 launch was to 'get the lights on'. We're excited to now be investing in the next stage of the PDL - a facelift and user experience improvements.

We're seeking innovative web designers to help us take the PDL to the next level.

What is involved?

We are undergoing a co-design process with a focus group of our users. These talanoa will inform the design brief.

• Take the design brief and add your own Pacific flavour
• Refresh the visual identity and user experience
• Improve layout, navigation and content discovery
• Strengthen accessibility and usability
• Create a more contemporary, distinctive digital presence
• Ensure the design can accommodate future growth
• Work closely with our web developer to ensure that proposed designs are both user-centred and technically achievable within the existing website and streaming platform environment.

Who should register an EOI?

We're looking for a web design leader with:

• Extensive experience in Pacific design, world view and methodology
• A portfolio you can share of your previous work
• Ability to challenge status quo and suggest improvements, whilst working within platform parameters
• We are open to EOIs from both individuals and organisations, but the key criteria is that whoever is leading the project has capacity to deliver in line with project timeframes

Timeline

The first focus group is in early October. We are looking for changes to be implemented by end of January 2027.

We know what it's like having to write long applications and we don't want the EOI to be an onerous process for our potential partners. To save your time and ours, please keep your EOI to no more than two pages (pictures don't count towards the page limit). 

In the EOI we would like to get a sense of how you would approach refreshing a culturally distinctive streaming platform, whose key challenge is making a large catalogue of specialist content easier and more compelling to discover.
